Seasonal allergies are more common during the warm seasons when the children can head outdoors in order to enjoy the budding flowers and to play.

Dealing with symptoms of seasonal allergies

More so during the night, the windows should remain closed. The level of allergens in the morning are highest from 5-10a.m because its when they are emitted from plants. When there are family members or children suffering from allergy, make the air condition work and keep the windows closed. Again, when the child returns home, he/she must change clothes and take a shower immediately. The hair and clothes are some of the places on which pollen can stick. Therefore, if you have allergic children at home, you should ensure that the shoes and slippers are kept outside. Clothes should not be hanged inside your house to dry. The aim is to prevent pollen from collecting on the laundry so that it is not carried into the house.

Keeping track of the pollen counts is crucial because the levels of the allergens are determined by the level of the pollen. For allergy children, if you monitor the pollen level, it is easy to determine the time when the outdoor exposure needs to be limited. Weather partially influences the pollen levels. When the wind is little, the pollen count is low. Wind is crucial in carrying the pollen seeds around. Rain or high humidity causes pollen to be washed away from the air. A light breeze and warm temperatures help in maintaining the pollen in the air. This leads to problems on seasonal allergy in children.

Changing air filters helps in dealing with seasonal allergy. The air filter in the air conditioner and heating system needs to be changed every six months. However, the manufacturers instructions also matter. The cooling and heating systems also need regular maintenance and checking. The aim is to help these systems to run more efficiently and reduce the quantity of allergens that are within the house.

Seeing a pediatrician is another method for proper diagnosis of the condition. This is because it may appear as seasonal allergy to you but it could be another culprit and not pollen. Therefore, let a pediatric allergist evaluate the child.

Trying some saline is important because it is a natural alternative when someone has an allergic condition. However, do not administer the saline into the eyes or nose without consulting a doctor. However, saline helps in rinsing pollen that gotten into the eyes and nasal passage. If using it at home, use simple saline and not the medicated eye drops or nasal drops.

Consulting a doctor on matters about allergy medication is crucial. The doctor can also give you other useful tips that you can use to take proper precaution for the allergy in children.
