subject: Achieve Gorgeous Long Locks [print this page]

The gorgeous long curling tendrils of celebrities and other famous faces has made many women long to copy the look. This is probably easier said than done when finding your hair is simply too short, or in no way can be teased into a similar style, whatever shampoo products you use. Fortunately, there is an easier and affordable solution than having to stalk the stars to ask them. Have you considered hair extensions? If not, then you could be well advised to take a deeper look into this and discover what can add so much depth and volume to your existing hair and give you the luscious locks you have always longed for.

There are different methods for hair extensions so this may be the best place to start your research. They can be sewn in, for example. This is not as odd as it may sound as the extensions are sewn onto your own hair but not with a needle and cotton or with the sort of thread a surgeon uses after an operation. Bonding and sealing extensions are another method whereby special hair adhesive is used in order to avoid damage to your natural hair.

This latter approach, however, is not so lasting in result as with the method of sewing in, using special hair glue, whereby the extensions are professionally applied to your own hair with the glue being applied to a section of what is known as wefted hair. This is not damaging to your own hair and is a common procedure for hair extensions by professional hair dressers. You will need to have the extensions removed after about three weeks, however, with this method because as the glue begins to lose its strength, your lovely new extensions could be in danger of falling out, just when you are at an event and want to look your dazzling best.

You could also opt for the fusion method whereby hair extensions are attached to individual strands of your own hair. The extensions can also be treated with keratin adhesive and by using a heat lamp this is melted to attach the extension to your hair. The great advantage here is that you can wash your hair regularly. Flip-in extensions can be used for a one off temporary effect.

Hair extensions can be made from synthetic or human hair, the latter having a more authentic look with less risk of damage.
