subject: How Hybrid Cars Work [print this page]

As a driver, one of the concerns that bring most of the drivers in agreement is the high cost of fuel. Using almost $100 or more on a single full tank of a utility vehicle is just too much and it has caused a great concern to many motor vehicle users. To address these concerns, engineers of the vehicle have been burning the midnight oil to provide a solution. It is through their hard work that they have come up with the hybrid vehicle. In general, a hybrid vehicle is a vehicle that has been engineered to ensure that the vehicle has the least consumption possible; making sure that the driver is let off on using high fuel. It is however important to understand the precise working of these hybrid vehicles. Just what is under the hood that allows the vehicle to offer up to 40 miles to the gallon?

One of the systems of this vehicle is the gasoline electric hybrid structure. In this build of the hybrid vehicle, a vehicle has both an electric drive that is run by a set of batteries on the vehicle. The vehicle also has this system used in this build so that it can alternate in between the use of electric power and the use of fuel. The vehicle uses electric power when on highway driving as this is the location when there is expected to be a continuous drive. When the electric power is being used, the vehicle automatically shuts off the engine. This in turn helps in the conservation of fuel in the vehicle, helping the vehicle produce less emission while at the same time ensuring that you get to enjoy on driving it.

Another hybrid vehicle is the parallel hybrid vehicle. In this vehicle, a fuel tank is provided for and at the same time, the vehicle has an electric motor that is powered by batteries. When the vehicle is running, both the batteries and the fuel motor of the vehicle run at the same time, ensuring the vehicle consumes less. This type of transmission is common in most of the hybrid vehicles on the roads.

Another hybrid vehicle that is in production is the series hybrid vehicle. This is a vehicle whose design is purely targeted at ensuring that the consumption of the vehicle is at its lowest. To ensure that the desired transmission power of the vehicle is achieved, the series hybrid vehicle has a gas propelled motor and an electric circuit. The gas propelled motor contrary to the parallel hybridthat makes use of it for propelling energy for transmission of the vehicle is used for propelling a motor that goes on to charge the batteries in the vehicle. This in turn lets the vehicle run purely on electric energy. This means that the gasoline part of the vehicle will never come into contact with the transmission of the vehicle. This helps achieve the desired effect of lower emission as lower green house gasses are produced and fuel consumption is at its lowest.
