Don't Be Stunned By The Thought Of Selling Stun Guns

Despite news reports quoting "noted economists" as saying that the recession is over, the economy isn't going to get better overnight. When things are tough, two things happen. Well, at least two. Getting into the business of selling stun guns and other non-lethal defense tools can help you with one and help you help other people avoid the second.

The first is that, whether they've lost their job or not, people start looking for new ways to get income. This may be because their benefits have been cut, their credit card rates have gone down, their kid wants to go to college, or just as a hedge against layoffs in their little corner of the universe. The other is that there is an uptick in crime. Sometimes these two things combine in very unpleasant ways.

Most of us were taught growing up to make the best of things: "When life hands you lemons, make lemonade." While no one wants to profit from the misfortunes of others, there is a way to make lemonade from a need to find a new business opportunity due to the potential increase in crime.

Stun guns and other non-lethal self-defense products such as pepper spray are an excellent means of protection. Since some people would rather not find a means of earning money in good times and bad, they make their way by robbing and possibly hurting others. Coping with the economy could rapidly become helping others protect themselves.

The advantage of such products over things like guns for home and self-protection is clear. Keeping a firearm in the house is always a tricky business. If there are, or will be, children in the home, the weapon should be out of their reach and preferably unloaded.

This means that if someone breaks in, they have to give the homeowner time to find and load the weapon for it to be of any use. And even then, one is often left with two choices; that of killing someone or being killed - quite possibly with the gun a ruthless thief has just taken from them.

Non-lethal self-protection is just that. While it is still very important to be careful with the item and never let children play with them, accidents will not have the tragic consequences that almost inevitably follow someone who shouldn't get hold of a loaded gun.

There is another aspect to items such as stun guns that is rarely considered, but is equally vital. Because shooting someone so often means killing them, many people will hesitate too long when confronted by someone with lethal intent, simply due to a natural and admirable reluctance to take a life. Stun guns do not offer up this moral quandary and a person can protect herself and her family with a clear conscience.

These are only a few reasons why selling non-lethal defense tools can be of such benefit to both seller and customer. This is a business that helps everyone except the person trying to take your stuff. And even they get a chance to reform.
