Don't Be Driven To Distraction!

The sheer number of new motor vehicles that get registered each year means British roads will get choked. That number is nothing to sneeze at and when you will include that number to older vehicles that still qualified for registration renewal, then you have an idea how new UK roads will have to be constructed to forestall heavy traffic from getting worse.

Easier said than done, you say. But UK traffic is getting worse each day and these road congestion conditions are sometimes caused by drivers who do not observe traffic rules strictly.

This non-observance is the prime cause of vehicle accidents. We see on prime time television an accident caused by someone who did not heed the red light, or some road maniac who went over the speed limits and got a thrill out of it. Things do happen, and poor driving habits are becoming increasingly common.

Young drivers are often some of the worst drivers anybody can encounter on the road. They easily panic in an emergency situation and often cause a bad situation to get worse. Often, they also do not obey traffic rules, either wilfully or unwittingly. The latter is caused by ignorance on some traffic safety signs and mat also be blamed on their driving instructors for not making things clear.

Another big concern is that of DUI or driving under the influence. Some drivers can manage or tolerate alcohol intake well but even these people cannot say they are at their hundred percent alertness level when driving after having a drink too many. In most cases, teens who had a drink also end up driving their wheels. Couple this situation where a gang or group of them out on a joy ride or merry-making trip about town can meet an untoward accident on their way home. Drunken teenage passengers are often noisy and boisterous and they distract a teenage driver much more easily who often joins in the fun.

A big concern among parents and law enforcement officers alike is the continued use of mobile phones whilst at the wheel. Studies after studies had shown repeatedly that a few seconds of taking your eyes off the road is very dangerous. People who use mobile phones whilst driving also have slower reflexes even if they see an obstacle to be avoided. This is because their minds' attention is focused on their phone conversation or text message.

These things alone should make you think seriously of getting a car insurance quote that meets your needs. Motorists today caught using hand-held mobiles will see their insurance quote go up by a hefty percentage, as being caught and you will face penalty points on your license as well as fines. Even those using hands-free mobile phones are not spared, their licenses will get slapped with penalty points.

Figures from the Home Office show half a million break this law each day without getting caught. However, with the latest technologies and cameras there are more and more people being caught, if you are amongst the people who do get caught expect to see a rise in your future car insurance premiums.
