Personal Fitness Goals

No matter if your merely getting started, you have hit a flat spot or your just sick of going to the gymnasium just to say that you did. The answer is staring you in the face.

Personal Fitness Goal

One of the keys to successful training is goal setting. Most people flick through magazines or else acquire a program off somebody and BAM that's for them that's what their about, even though they aren't truly sure why they want to do it in the first place. Don't get me wrong here, starting out this way is not a bad thing, the reality which you started is admirable. Nonetheless setting out personal fitness direction for yourself is a brilliant method to remain motivated in addition to focused.

I never started out having a fitness plan, I would go to the gym lift the heaviest item which I could for the reason that I just had to be more powerful than the other guys that were at hand. I was pleased or at least I thought so, that was until I realised that whilst, Yes, I was physically powerful I was also overweight and had meager cardio fitness. You know the type, you spot them walking about, immense guys who look like they can't scratch their own head but still have a beer belly, well that was me. Therefore I set myself a target, I was going to lose 20kgs in 4 months. That was it, that was my initial step, I took it and boy did I run with it.

But now what do I do????

A really big thing that I tell myself in addition to my clients is right along side everyone of those objectives (short and long) goes your rewards. A short stretch reward could be very easy things like a sneaky drink on a Friday night or a cheat snack on the Saturday or something small which you judge you have earned. Long term goals, well now you really get to enjoy, perhaps a different wardrobe or a holiday, something larger that says I set out to do something and by god I did it. Rewarding your victory is key, but more than that it allows to solidify your achievement. At the end of the day you earned it and you deserve it.

Now visualize a cartoon style pyramid, big triangle with small steps all the way to the pinnacle. I require you to establish yourself a long term fitness target and a reward for your achievement, take them both and place them all the way at the pinnacle of your pyramid. Then on every one of those steps leading up to the crest, set out a short term goal to help keep you focused and aligned with getting all the way up and receiving your long term goal reached.

Do yourself a favour, draft your plan, your benefits, the whole thing you desire to achieve. Appoint your individual fitness objectives and I assure you will be so well focused, motivated and directed, you will marvel why it took you so long to set out your desired goals in the first place.
