Travelling From Ludhiana To Delhi

Ludhiana, Indias textile centre is the site of the battle of the First Sikh War fought between the Sikhs and the East Indian Company in 1845. Located about 100 kilometres from the capital city of Chandigarh, Ludhiana is supposed to be the largest city of Punjab state.

Delhi, the capital of India, is known for its historical importance and was the seat of the Mughal Empire for many years. Dotted with tombs, forts and monuments, Delhi is the political nerve centre of India. The city was planned by the British architect, Sir Edwin Lutyens, thus giving the name Lutyens Delhi. Some of the attractions in and around Delhi are Red Fort, India Gate, Qutub Minar, Jantar Mantar, Bahai Mandir, Birla Temple, Purana Qila, Akshardham Temple, Humayuns Tomb, Jama Masjid, Raj Bhavan, Raj Ghat, Gurudwara Bangla Sahib, National Museum, National Gallery of Modern Art, Parliament House, Rashtrapati Bhavan and Rajpath.

Ludhiana lies at a distance of 330 km from Delhi.

Ludhiana is well connected to Delhi by road as it is on main Delhi-Amritsar route. One of the major highways NH 1 connects Ludhiana with Delhi passing through, Ambala, Kurukshetra, Karnal, Panipat and Sonipat. A very busy route, one can take your own car from Ludhiana to Delhi. The highway is dotted with numerous petrol pumps, dhabas and hotels for the convenience of the travellers. It takes around 5 hours and 40 minutes to complete the journey.

Numerous state government run buses are available from Ludhiana to Delhi. Also available are private buses that ply from Ludhiana to Delhi. These buses come under different categories like ordinary, AC multi-axle, AC and non-AC sleeper, semi sleeper with push-back seats, and 2 X 2 coaches.

Hired cabs charge around Rs. 7000 to Rs. 9000 for a round trip to Delhi from Ludhiana.

Ludhiana is well connected by rail and it is an important railway junction with lines going to Jalandhar, Ferozepur, Dhuri and Delhi and is well connected with daily or weekly trains to Delhi.

Golden Temple Mail (12904), Jammu Rajdhani (12426), Uttar S Kranti, (12446), Chhattisgarh Express (18238), Jammu Tawi Tatanagar Express (18110), Pooja Express (12414), and Hoshiarpur Delhi Jammu Mail (24034), are some of the daily trains connecting Ludhiana and Delhi. Most of these trains take about 5 to 7 hours to reach from Ludhiana to Delhi. Amritsar-New Delhi Swarna Shatabdi Express (12030/12032) is the fastest train that takes only 4 hours to complete the journey. Some of the other trains that run on some of the days are Dhauladhar Express (14036), Hirakund Express (18508), Swaraj Express (12472), Shaheed Express (14674), Sarayu Yamuna Express (14650), and Pathankot Delhi Express (12343). Ludhiana is connected by air with Delhi. Air India has flights from Delhi to Ludhiana daily.
