subject: Family Things To Do For All Seasons [print this page]

Every season has something different to offer in the way of family things to do. Making a plan for your activities is a great way to spend your time wisely throughout the year so that you are able to do the exciting things that have come to mind.

Spring is the time of year when everyone who lives in the cooler zones begins to get relief. The sky goes from gray to a bright blue, the daffodils and crocuses start to pop up, and they survive even when there is that last April snow. This is the season when people start wearing shorts when they should still be wearing pants, but it just feels so good to get out in the sunshine. This is the time when you can start cleaning up the yard after winter, prepping, and planting your garden. Depending on where you live, you might need to wait until after Memorial Day to plant.

Summer is one of the seasons that seem longer in a good way. The spring showers have ended, and the summer flowers and garden plants begin to come up. It is a time of hard work in your garden as there are a lot of weeds to pull. This can be on your list of family things to do as well. It might not sound fun, but things done together are always more enjoyable. Other summer fun could include going swimming, finding a good spot on a lake to fish, or even just going for walks in the cool of the early evening.

Fall is the time that many people find to be their favorite. It is the perfect combination of cool and warm. The leaves change colors and add a beauty that only exists during this time. Fall family things to do could include apple picking, making caramel apples and eating them, canning vegetables, raking leaves, and getting in some last minute fishing.

Winter can be a great season. Many people love winter for the sporting activities that are available. Skiing, whether downhill or cross-country, are good family things to do. Going sledding on the local hill and coming back to hot chocolate and a movie is another fun option. You might go outside and even build a snowman. Whether or not you have kids, playing in the snow is fun for people of all ages.

There are so many other family things to do during all of the seasons that are not mentioned here. Take the time to think of some that you would all enjoy. Then put them on the calendar. If you do not plan, you will likely just not do it.
