The German Marathon Champions win a trip to the cult run COMRADES in South Africa

When more than 600 runners compete for the title in the German Marathon Championships at the MUNICH MARATHON on October 14th 2012, the new national champions can additionally look forward to a special gift: For the German Marathon Champions 2012, the MUNICH MARATHON provides a starting place and a trip to one of the most traditional and biggest running events in the world: the Comrades Marathon in South Africa.

The Comrades Marathon is a first-rate running event. With an exceptional atmosphere and a beautiful track, the South African ultra-marathon attracts runners from all around the world. The small run with a total of 34 starters in the debut year of 1941 has developed into a sporting spectacle with almost 20,000 participants. The 89 kilometres long city run between Durban and Pietermaritzburg is not only fascinating for runners, but also for thousands of excited spectators. Special hospitality and enthusiasm for sports characterise the South Africans, and guarantee that the Comrades Marathon is a highlight in the personal running calendar of every participant.

The MUNICH MARATHON is glad to offer the two German Marathon Champions 2012 this present on top of their title. In cooperation with Ethopian Airlines and the German company Laufreisen, the MUNICH MARATHON give this years champions a special package: The number one of the German women and men are guaranteed a starting place at Comrades, including a ticket there and back Frankfurt a.M. / Johannesburg, as well as four days in a hotel in South Africa. For a good view on the African cult track, Oakley additionally includes Radarlock-Glasses in the sporting package for the happy winners. Therefore, the fastest participants of this years German Marathon Championships gain the attractive chance to compete with other international top athletes at the worlds biggest ultra-marathon in 2013.

About the MUNICH MARATHON

Since 2000, the MUNICH MARATHON has been organised by runabout MNCHEN MARATHON GmbH (former medien marathon mnchen GmbH). The traditional running event takes place every year, always one week after the Oktoberfest, and is one of Germanys Top 5 marathon events. In Southern Germany, the MUNICH MARATHON is the number one. Up to 20.000 runners participate every year. The track leads along the most important sights of the Bavarian capital, and ends with the finish at the Munich Olympic Stadium. The program around the run consists of a marathon exhibition (two days) in the Event-Arena at the Olympiapark with about 45,000 visitors, a pasta party and an international Trachtenlauf (traditional costume run) one day before the marathon.
