How To Send A Text Message Online

Surveys show that people will check their phones for text messages at all times of the day and night. For those of us who constantly have their phones either in their hand, pocket or within easy reach, this is especially true and we will probably check every few minutes to see if somebody has managed to send a text message since the last time we looked. When you send a text, messages seem more important than if you receive a phone call and this is why more and more people are choosing to send a text rather than phoning.

Text messaging, or texting, is the exchange of brief written text messages between two or more mobile phones or fixed or portable devices over a phone network. While the original term was derived from referring to messages sent using the Short Message Service (SMS) originated from Radio Telegraphy, it has since been extended to include messages containing image, video, and sound content (known as MMS messages).

These days, there are different ways of using this service and you can now send a text message online, which is very useful. If you pay for each text message you send, text internationally, or prefer typing over texting, knowing how to send a text online can come in handy and can usually save you money at the same time. It is not difficult to do and there are really only three steps to send a text message online:

Find out which carrier the recipient uses

Compose an e-mail with your intended text message in the body

Send the e-mail to the e-mail-to-SMS gateway for their carrier

Text messages can be used to interact with automated systems such as ordering products and services for mobile phones or participating in contests. Advertisers and service providers use direct text marketing to notify mobile phone users about promotions, payment due dates and other notifications that can usually be sent by post, e-mail or voicemail.

A text message often preferable to making a phone call as sometimes you do not wish to have a conversation, but you do need to get a message across to another person. In the business world, the use of texting is widespread and is on the increase. It is convenient and far reaching, as well as being the cheaper option, especially if you use the internet. On a personal level, you will find that there are some things which are best said in a short message and this is why you will find that people will often prefer to send a text message rather than call.

On the other hand, there are times when only a phone call will do and so you need to make sure that you do not send a text for things such as bad news involving death, accidents or breaking up with someone. There are etiquettes for the use of mobile phones, as there are with all other aspects of life, and these really do need to be followed.
