A Holiday In Ipswich - Suffolk

Going to Ipswich - Suffolk is a wonderful way to spend a holiday. The town is beautifully maintained with wonderful architecture, museums, and galleries that sits next to the River Orwell. There are some marvelous walking paths along the river that give you a great opportunity to enjoy the landscape, buildings, and river life that is teeming on the River.

A beautiful Victorian building that you will want to see is the Tolly Cobbold Brewery. The brewery may or may not be open for tours. It has been opened at various times over the years for public tours but has been closed several times. It will be worth it to check and see if you can get in to explore this great building that was an active brewery for over two hundred years.

Holywells Park is sixty-seven acres of beautiful landscape and gardens that have been laid out immaculately. However, there are several acres devoted to forest and wildlife refuge. You will find wonderful ponds, paths, and places to sit and enjoy the area.

Spending a day visiting wonderful galleries and shops starts at the Christchurch Mansion. This beautiful building is only five minutes from the town centre on Soane Street. Just across from the beautiful Christchurch Park, you will find an amazing display of Victorian toys and dollhouses when you visit the Georgian Saloon.

When you are exploring the Christchurch Park you will find beautiful gardens and forests. This park was attached to the Holy Trinity Priory in the 1100s' and acted as a medieval cemetery that has recently been uncovered. St. Margaret's, which was built in the 1300s' when the town outgrew the Priory is still in use today and is a wonderful display of the architecture of the period.

If you love theatre plan on attending the Annual Theatre in the Forest in April. This event is presented by the Red Rose Chain production company of actors and welcomes 8,000 visitors to the outdoor theatre events. The Suffolk Show is held in Trinity Park in June and hosts 80,000 people that enjoy the great livestock exhibits, gardens, children's farms, shops, foods, musical events and much more.

In September the Corn Exchange on King Street is host to the Ipswich Beer Festival. This event is great fun for anyone who enjoys food and beer tasting. There are over 200 beers and ales from throughout the region as well as events, booths, and great activities. Another great and unique event is the annual Woodbridge Horseshow that is held in May. This event has been taking place annually since 1871. This massive show has over 12 rings, 117 classes of horses and great activities that include parades, booth, food, and horses performing in different activities.

The Ipswich Arts Festival is another event that last for two weeks beginning the last week of June. The whole town is involved in this annual event. Dance troupes, theatre, visual arts, poetry, music, booths, carnivals, and daily special events take place each day throughout the festival.

When planning a holiday at Ipswich - Suffolk, you will find that there is a great number of bistros, cafes, pubs, wonderful hotels, B&Bs, self-catering flats available. Staying here is a splendid way to spend a long or short holiday and enjoy the events and activities that the town has to offer.
