subject: A Family Vacation [print this page]

As we are approaching the years end, work is the last thing on anybodys mind. All one can think about is celebrating, partying and holidaying. This is the one time in the year when barely any work is done and all we do is day dream about what our plans are for Christmas and New Years. Most people take leave from work and set off on a vacation. Its the vacation time of the year. You will find most holiday destinations like Goa completely full and overflowing with people. Everyone whether with family or friends has something planned out, a party to go to or an entire vacation.

Since we live in the sub continent of India there is no shortage of places and vacation destinations we could go to. And even the type of destination is something which we have a variety to choose from. From the sunny and sandy beaches of Goa to the extreme cold of the Himalayas to the beautiful back waters in Kerela, its all within a stones throw of each other. Most people would have to travel to a different country in order to see such diverse places. There are quite a few road trips one could also take across different routes in the country. The most common one being the drive from Mumbai to Goa, its a smooth 677km drive across the NH17 highway. And I decided to make it a family vacation/road trip. Have taken sufficient time of from work, me, my wife and kids set of on the 27th morning. After exiting the city, we were cruising past the highway. After a few hours of driving we decided to take a pit stop. To get a slight glimpse of the sandy beaches we had waiting for us in Goa, we stopped at Ganpatipule. It was so beautiful and untouched, and all I could think about is what a great new year this is going to be. After we set of again, my kids wanted to stop at the the Karnala bird sanctuary, however, we were slightly time bound as my wife wasnt a supporter of night driving. So we continued onto Goa, there were tons of Goa resorts to choose from, and I chose this one called Peters cottage. As we crossed sawantvadi I couldnt wait to just go and put my feet up, and sip on my beer at the beach. It was going to be a great holiday and I prayed time passed as slowly as possible through the course of this entire week.
