Of late, Wayanad has emerged as one of the most favoured getaway destinations of the people of Bangalore, not only due to its natural beauty, but also due to its proximity to the city.

Wayanad lies at an approximate distance of 290 km from Bangalore. Being a hilly territory, Wayanad does not possess any railway station or airport. Hence the sole means of direct travel to Wayanad from Bangalore is by road ways. There are many buses that run regularly from Bangalore to Wayanad on a daily basis. These buses are operated by both the government agencies and the private operators. Several types of buses like ordinary buses, A/C Volvo buses, semi sleepers and sleepers run between both the destinations at regular intervals. Besides, the buses that go to Kozhikode from Bangalore also pass through Wayanad. Road Transport Corporations of both states are named KSRTC and they both provide many types of bus services to choose from.

Hiring a cab from Bangalore to Wayanad is also a good option of travel. It not only ensures speedy journey, but also provides a great deal of convenience to the travellers. Though a little more costly than the bus, taxis are best suited while travelling with kids and elders, or as a family. There are numerous cab services that operate between these two places.

Another option of travelling from Bangalore to Wayanad is by reaching Kozhikode by train and then proceeding from there by cab or by bus to Wayanad. Alternatively, one can also fly from Bangalore to Kozhikode and hire a taxi from the airport to reach Wayanad. But both these options are time consuming and uneconomical, and hence not recommendable.
