What To Expect From A Botox Treatment

Are you ready to get Botox to get rid of some of those fine lines and wrinkles you have? You may be getting this treatment for another medical condition, too, such as to stop muscle spasms in the eyes or to reduce the amount of sweat produced by the glands. No matter why you are getting it, know that this treatment is one of the safest and it provides some of the best possible results for patients. The more you know about it, the more confident you can be that this is a treatment worth having. What can you expect from a treatment?

Before the Procedure

Before you get Botox, your doctor will talk to you about it and the process. You will have the opportunity to discuss any questions you have, too. There is not much you need to do prior to having the injections. In many cases, you can have your consultation on the same day as the treatment. In some cases, your nurse or doctor will prescribe a medication to you that will numb the area where the injections will occur. This is not always necessary or beneficial.

During the Procedure

Once you are relaxed, the doctor will use a very thin needle to inject the material into your skin. It can also be put into your muscles depending on the type of treatment you are getting. For most facial treatments, the doctor will be injecting into the muscle. He or she will carefully choose the right muscles to treat based on the location of your wrinkles. This treatment is only done in areas where there are specific needs for treatment. Not all muscles receive treatment.

How many injections you get depends on the area specifically. The entire process, though, usually takes only 15 minutes. The pain is mild, if any, and you will likely not find it too hard to tolerate without medication.

After the Procedure

Once the procedure is complete, the doctor will allow you to sit for a few minutes. You will be able to get back to your regular activities right after that, though. Though there may be some minor bruising on the skin or some local reaction to the treatment, most people have no limitations after the procedure. Do not rub the area treated or in any way massage it as this could cause the treatment to not work.

That is all it takes to get a Botox treatment. Schedule one and get rid of your wrinkles right away. The process may be faster and more successful than you realize and there is very little risk to you. It may be the perfect time to get rid of those wrinkles you do not like.
