Mysore, known by the Palace in the same name was the erstwhile capital of Wodeyar dynasty. A beautiful city, located in the state of Karnataka, situated at the base of the Chamundi hills; Mysore is the administrative headquarters of the Mysore district. Tourism and Information Technology are major industries here. Mysore Palace is a major tourist attraction especially during the Dassera festival. Mysore silk garments and sandalwood carvings are also popular here.

Bangalore, the capital of Karnataka state, known as the Garden City, situated in the Deccan plateau is the third most populous city in India. It is a well known hub for Indian Information Technology sector and known as the Silicon Valley of India. A growing metropolitan city it has many educational and research institutions. Numerous public sector companies have their offices in Bangalore.

Mysore to Bangalore is well connected by the road and rail routes.

Bangalore is located at a distance of 149 km from Mysore. One has to drive on the SH17 (Mysore Bangalore Road) from Mysore via Srirangapatna, Maddur to reach Chanapatana. Continue on the same road from Chanapatana via Ramnagara, Bidadi and Kumbalgodu to finally reach Bangalore. The time taken for this journey is about three hours. Various ATMs, clean rest rooms and restaurants at regular intervals are also present enroute for the convenience of travelers.
How To Travel From Mysore To Bangalore


There are many KSRTC (state transport) and private bus operators having service on this route. These buses come under various categories like the Ordinary, Non AC Seater, Semi luxury with push back seats and Multi Axle Volvo AC. The cost of a seat may range from Rs 250 to Rs 500 depending on the type of bus.

Alternately on could also hire a private taxi from Mysore to Bangalore. The rental charges for a round trip costs from Rs 2500 upwards.

But probably the much easier and more comfortable way to travel from Mysore to Bangalore is by train as some of the faster trains like Shatabdi take only a little above two hours to complete the journey. Also there are more than two dozen trains that connect the two cities and the fare for a 3rd AC ticket is only about Rs 300.

The Mysore Chennai Shatabdi Express (12008) leaves Mysore at 14.15 hours and arrives at Bangalore at 16.15 hours. The Tippu Express (12613) departs from Mysore at 11.00 hours and arrives at Bangalore at 13.30 hours. Karwar Yashwantpur Express (16524) leaves Mysore at 05.40 hours and reaches Bangalore at 08.35 hours. One can easily book for train or bus tickets from the various internet portals.

Even though both cities have airports, presently there are no flights operating on this sector.
