Rail, Road Option To Travel From Agra To Mathura

India is known as the land of Taj Mahal in foreign countries. Taj Mahal in Agra, situated on the banks of Yamuna River, is the most visited place by the travellers in India. The distance from Agra to Mathura is around 57 km. Mathura is regarded as the birthplace of Lord Krishna. The sacred city has many holy shrines and sacred kunds. The literal meaning of Mathura is city of gods.

One of the most visited places of interest in Mathura is Krishnajanmabhoomi Temple. It houses the Garbhagriha, a cell- like room which is believed to be the birthplace of Lord Krishna. Among other places of tourist interest in Mathura are Dwarikadheesh Temple, Vishram Ghat, Rangbhoomi, Jama Masjid, Gita Temple and Banke Bihari Mandir.

Mathura is well connected with Agra by rail and road. There is no airport in Mathura though there is one in Agra. The two cities are well connected by rail. Both Agra and Mathura are situated on the trunk rail route from Delhi to Mumbai and South India. There is a train in every half an hour from Agra to Mathura. Besides daily trains, there are trains which run on certain days of the week. The trains take only a little more than an hour to cover the distance.

Both Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation and private travel agencies operate regular bus services from Agra to Mathura. Luxury buses are also available in this route. The fare for the bus ranges from Rs.50 to Rs.150. The bus takes less an hour and 30 minutes to reach Mathura from Agra.

Taxi cars are also available in plenty in this route. They charge a rate ranging from Rs.15 to Rs.25 per kilometre depending on the type of car. Shared taxis are also plied in this route. Taxis take a little more than an hour to travel the distance.
