Shirdi is a town associated with Saint Sai Baba. Born in 1838, Sai Baba first came to Shirdi when he was sixteen. From then onwards, he stayed there till his death in 1918. Extended over an area of 200 sq m, a temple dedicated to Sai Baba was constructed here in 1922. This temple complex of Shirdi has Khandoba, Gurusthan, Samadhi Mandir, Dwarkamai, Chavadi and Lendi Baug. Other places of interest in Shirdi include Shani and Maruti Temples, which were built under the guidance of Sai Baba. Shirdi became renowned pilgrim centre in the 20th century. The distance between Shirdi to Bangalore is around 975 km by road. Previously referred as city of gardens, Bangalore has lots of monuments, historic landmarks, natural lakes, parks and gardens making it a popular tourist destination. Shirdi has no airport. The closest airports are located at Nasik (110 km), Pune (180 km) and Mumbai (290 km). Comparatively there are more flights from Mumbai to Bangalore. Even if you take flights from Nasik or Pune, you have to change flights in Mumbai. You can reach any of these three airports from Shirdi by taking a bus or taxi.

The most comfortable means of travel from Shirdi to Bangalore is to travel by Karnataka Express (No.12628) train from Kopergaon, which is located just about 16 km away from Shirdi. This train takes around 22 hours to reach Bangalore. You can take a bus, taxi, auto rickshaw to reach Kopergaon from Shirdi. Running on all Wednesdays, Ahmedabad-Bangalore Express (No.16501) has a stop at Manmad, a railway station located at about 55 km from Shirdi. Train journey is recommended for families and groups.

You can also travel by road from Shirdi to Bangalore by means of bus or taxi cabs. It takes around 15 hours to reach Bangalore from Shirdi by road. The fare of cabs as well as buses depends on the kind of vehicle you choose and the number of passengers.
