Fun Things To Do With Your Kids On A Budget - Anytime!

There are things to do with your kids that do not involve emptying your wallet. You may think that fun with the youngsters will cost you a bundle, but it does not have to. Scour the listings in your town to find places you can go and activities you can enjoy together that will not cause your finances to cry!

Visit the thrift stores and second hand shops in your community. Give each of your children (if they are old enough) a few dollars to see what interesting gems they can uncover in the stores. While this outing with your children may cost you a few dollars, the cost will be minimal while the fun can be immeasurable. For things to do on a rainy day off or on a Saturday, browsing these types of shops can unearth some interesting toys, books, puzzles and clothing. You never know what you may find.

This is a good way to teach your children about different kinds of shopping experiences. Tell your kids that you are on a retail treasure hunt and see what each of you can find. Your daughter may find some dress up clothes or costume jewellery, while your son may find a book or a toy car to play with. Do not underestimate the enjoyment of visiting local thrift establishments.

Things to do with the kids do not have to involve a destination, but might be the form of transportation you use. If you tend to drive everywhere you go, try something different and go somewhere on the bus. This may not inspire you or seem like a treat, but young children are often thrilled at the thought of taking a bus ride. Take the bus to the park, the museum, the ice cream parlor, the library or to visit grandma. By doing this, you are teaching your kids something new and providing them with a new experience- the bus ride experience!

In most cities, children under the age of five travel free. If your children are under the age of five, you are the only one who will have to pay the fare. You will be pleased to see how such a simple pleasure can make your little ones faces light up with excitement.

Story time at a local caf is a thing to do with your child that will cost you nothing but can provide for both an educational, as well as entertaining outing. Many cafes are child oriented and welcome mothers and their babies, as well as their toddlers and school aged children.

Free events are often the norm at these venues. Look for a place where you can get a coffee or latte while your children listen to a story told in an animated fashion by the resident storyteller. There might even be a puppet show to attend once in a while that is sure to make the kids smile and giggle. Check the newspaper and posters in your area for more details.
