The Seo Fundamentals For Newbie Marketers

The big companies understand that SEO is a spoke in the wheel of online promotions and newbie marketers need to appreciate this fact as well. Infact, it would be prudent on the part of newbie marketers to uncover the myths of SEO to aid their business growth.

For a newbie marketer, SEO seems more like a jargon from another world. There is no dearth of savvy online promotion companies that can make your life more expensive and difficult. Smart marketers are looking for ways to make income at the expense of newbie marketers. And probably, the newbie marketers are the ones who need to conserve money more often than other more successful marketers.

As a newbie marketer, who is looking for exposure to his business website, the task of promotion must start from his own site. In other words, the baby little steps of search engine optimization need to happen right there on his website.

Why is that so?

You will be surprised at the complete lack of knowledge and applied principles when it comes to search engine optimization. Before your outsource your business website's SEO, it is better that you take little steps to avoid being at the mercy of your SEO company completely.

Not that this is bad in anyway. Well, you must know what you want to achieve out of SEO. In other words, the objectives of your SEO need to be clearly defined, documented and elaborated to your potential SEO partners. While this will take sometime on your part and may be even a bit of digging for one of your staff, this ensures that you are the overall controller of your online presence and its marketing movement.

So, you may be wondering as to what can be done to evolve an SEO strategy for your website. After all no two sites are alike and hence, no two SEO strategies can be alike.

The strategy for SEO of your website needs to be developed keeping in mind a few factors. Infact, you can consider the 3 factors that should be the pillars of your business website's strategy. And these 3 factors would be:

1. Effective Keywords - Most of us make mistakes in picking up keywords. Most newbie marketers tend to pick keywords with very high competition or very poor search engine volumes to make any major impact.

2. Strength of Competition - It is a not a bad idea to validate the competition against your business site in major search engines. If you are competing for first page exposure against the heavy weights or very old sites, chances are that you will have difficulty in breaking the overall resistance to enter the first page. Smart guys will do better to choose the keywords in the middle rung, the ones that have low competition and moderate volumes.

3. Gestation Period - This is more like how much time you are willing to allow your optimization campaign to run for without any conclusive proof of pudding. SEO campaigns need to be organic or gradual to avoid being considered spam by search engine. So, you should have a carefully planned budget that is laid out for SEO strategy's sustenance before you see any visible improvements.

As a summary, I would strongly suggest that you must take time to analyze your niche, competition and define a goal that is realistic for your business. Quitting is always a costly option.
