Adele is back in the ER yet again from another accident. She tripped at the grocery store and a display fell on top of her. Chief Webber asks Bailey to help her. She makes her do a substance abuse test because she can't find anything medically wrong with her. Meredith and Bailey suspect early dementia. There is an Alzheimer's patient who has to rely on her son to remember things for her. Her young son has a bump on his throat that they have failed to get checked out. It turns out to be a cyst that is pushing on his trachea which is closing up. Dr. Stark is upset that it wasn't caught earlier and wishes to have the child taken from the parents by protective services. She is part of the clinical trial and has been designated to receive the actual drug and not the placebo. Dr. Stark calls off the call to protective services after much pleading from April. He then asks her out.

Christina and Owen fight over the subject of children. Christina doesn't want children ever and Owen does. He feels that she never listens to any of his opinions.
Lexie is getting over Mark by getting together with blue eyes Avery. He tells her that he is going to wait in line to be with her so that when she gets over Mark, he will be there. They end up in the shower together at the end of the episode.
A patient with Cystic Fibrosis is getting a lung transplant until Teddy finds out that his girlfriend also has CF which could kill both of them from an infection. Teddy tells them that it's either their relationship or the lungs as they could go to someone else who would live longer with them. They say that the relationship is over so that he can get the lungs.
