Review of interview with Mark Yarnell

I recently watched Eric Worre interview Mark Yarnell. Most of the topic they talked about was what it takes to succeed in network marketing. Mark Yarnell is the author of Your first year in network marketing and has made over $30 million in network marketing. When Eric asked him what he thought made the difference is between the average people and the high ranking people he said it was mentoring. He said find someone in your domain that can coach you then just shut up an listen. He talked about how his first mentor was Dr. Norman Vincent Peel.

How do you pick a mentor? Mark says that the way to pick a good mentor is by accessibility. That if you track up-line you can find someone who is accessible and just call them up and ask them. If you find someone who is consistently getting the results that you want call them and promise to do what they tell you.

Mark said the first thing he would tell a mentee would be to turn pro. A professional is someone who gets paid and an amateur is someone who doesn't. The next thing he would tell them is to commit to 2 hours and day. In that 2 hours he says you will commit to turning off all your technology except a cell phone or a land line and basically see if you can reach 30 people and talk to them about your product, service or biz-opp. He says if you do not commit to doing those things he will not work with you or sponsor you. This is because we are only paid to do 2 things as professsionals in this industry, recruit and retail.

He then talked about the steps to sponsoring which are EXPOSE, PRESENT, VALIDATE, ENROLL and then SUPPORT. In some way we have to expose people to the business without using terms that bring up biases about our industry which everyone has such as; home based business, passive residual income or business opportunity. These are terms that Mark says bring up these immediate red flags. He uses an approach that begins like this, "how many units of principal less interest have you and your family accumulated over the years". The person has no idea what he is talking about and is curious and he continues with the conversation. Mark says he then hands them a CD, DVD or says visit this website and get back with him if they are interested.

So the way you work your 2 hours a day Mark says is to reach as many people as you can with information that will interest them not turn them off. He also says, and this is the fun part, if he can get someone to do that everyday on a consistent basis in a year your wealthy. Only if you are consistently resilient.

He says it is going to be hard, miserble and rotten but that's why it pays $300,000 a month if you do what he teaches. Mark says "Whenever something is challenging and difficult the people who make the most money are the ones with the courage to face it".

I really enjoyed this interview, what I got from it was to stay consistently focused on talking to people everyday because this is a people business. Understanding that it is hard and it takes time to get over that initial huge hill to reach the "tipping point" to where it becomes easy and second nature.
