Increase the Self-esteem of Your Children Today

There are thousands of children who don't feel good about themselves, yet their parents are not doing anything about it. It could be because they have the mentality that soon their own kids can rise above their insecurities and build their confidence all on their own.

This doesn't work all the time. Plenty will end up getting so insecure they become vulnerable to bullying. They can also grow up with a lot of pent-up emotions, including self-hate or self-loathing.

As a parent, it's your responsibility to help your children discover their inner potential and increase their self-esteem. If you don't know where and how to start, the following tips may be extremely helpful:

Show them with praises. Adults want to look for recognition or self-fulfillment. If you don't believe this, then just look at the many people who feel so much happiness when they receive certificates of recognition.

Your children deserve appreciation too, and you should be unselfish enough to give them. For example, if you find them fixing their beds, you may say, "Thank you for doing that for me." If they do well in school, you can treat them with little out-of-town trips.

Of course, there will always be limits. Make sure you praise them only on things that are good. Admonish them if they commit mistakes or end up hurting other people in the process.

Teach them the power of affirmations. Affirmations or subliminal messages are not constrained with age. You can teach your kids their effectiveness too. You can write subliminal messages for them, or both of you can sit down and develop them. You can then give the subliminal messages list to them and instruct your children to recite the lines early in the morning or when they feel down or sad over something. Some examples can be the following:

I am proud of myself.

I can build self-confidence as early as now.

I see the world as something beautiful.

I am well loved by my parents and great friends.

I can look forward to a great life.

Take care of them properly. Help them eat the right kinds of food. By doing so, they will become less sickly. A right diet can also improve their moods, preventing them from suffering depression and anxiety.

Encourage social relationships. Allow your children to bring their friends into your home. Enroll them in summer classes or encourage them to engage in sports activities such as baseball or basketball. Sports can teach them a lot of self-discipline and patience, as well as expand their network of friends.

Open the doors for exploration. You can help your children discover their talents without really becoming too imposing. If you sense they have the ability or inkling for music, you can enroll them in voice or piano lessons. If they have a knack for writing, you can provide them with pen and paper where they can write their thoughts. You can also volunteer yourself as a good critic, provided you have the capacity to give quality pointers.
