Are You Accidentally Sabotaging Your Diet?

Everybody knows that the most effective foods we can take in are whole grains, lean meats and healthy fats. These are the ingredients that will give us the energy and protein we need. They keep our bodies nicely balanced nutritionally but don't stuff us full of empty calories which will later need to be burned off at the gym. Did you already know, though, that a number of the foods you are eating that are supposed to be perfectly acceptable by dietary standards, could be keeping you from losing weight at a good pace? They can also be making you gain more pounds! Here are some of the foods which may be undermining your diet efforts.

You are not truly served by Sports Drinks. You've possibly been thinking that the sports drink is the easiest way to help your system feel greater after a workout. Most doctors agree, however, that if your exercise session is shorter than ninety minutes, drinking water should be fine. Sports drinks are full of sugar and calories and a large amount of other things you don't need like artificial flavors and colors which defeat any attempts at eating only natural products. Choose chocolate milk for your beverage as a substitute. The sugar within the chocolate helps your muscles start to mend and the calcium in milk keeps your bones strong.

Protein Shakes are not your friend. Lots of people feel that protein shakes can be utilized instead of meals and to curb cravings between meals. What you're actually doing, especially if the remainder of your diet consists of whole and healthy foods, is helping your body overdose on protein. No matter what other folks believe, protein is not stashed in the muscles, it is stored in your body as fat. This shows that should you have taken in too much protein during the day your body stores what it doesn't need in your fat, which won't help you lose weight or inches at all.

Pre-packaged deli meat isn't as healthy for you as you might think. It's typically believed that a sandwich constructed of whole grain bread as well as lean pre-packaged deli meat is a pretty good lunch time item. The real truth is that pre-packaged deli meat has a large amount of preservatives and can provide you with about a third of your advised sodium consumption for the day. This can be particularly harmful if you are at risk for heart disease. Rather than getting pre-packaged deli meat, choose some home cooked poultry or the deli meat that is newly sliced at your deli counter. Yes you'll shell out more money for these options but you will be healthier if you choose them.

There are all sorts of things that we assume will help us lose weight: eating a whole wheat bagel in the morning, for example is actually a lot worse for you than a bowl of oatmeal with some cinnamon sprinkled into it for flavor. Ask a medical expert which food items are most effective for you and then eat those. If you are careful about what you eat and treat your body well, losing weight should not be that big of an issue for you!
