Belt Conveyors Are Vital To Modern Day Industry

Standard belt conveyors are used to move a wide fluctuation of items along horizontal, declining or inclining paths. You will see belt conveyors used in just about any production or manufacturing environment as they are the most commonly used conveyor due to their flexibility.

You will recognise belt conveyors in most modern factories, often being used in association with more variegated machines to make a production process more efficient.

There are so many variations of belt conveyor available that there is always likely to be a type available to suit your production process.

A belt conveyor has several advantages when being considered as a mechanical means of materials conveying.

Some of the many advantages are:

For moving product over any sort of distance there are few if any methods of doing so more cost effective than using a belt conveyor.

There is very little chance for product or material to become damaged by the transportation process once it is on the conveyor.

You can easily change the angle of incline or decline on a belt conveyor should you need to change the height at which the product is transported.

If you need to inspect the product as it moves down the belt a belt conveyor is a great option for this as the product is always easily viewable.

If you currently employ a lot of people to shift product from one area to another you may be able to cut costs massively in the long run by using a belt conveyor to do the work.

Incline belt conveyors can have cleats on the top surface of the belt to stop product rolling back

A few handy pointers for when it comes to selecting your conveyor manufacturer

1. The conveyor manufacturer you buy your conveyor from would ideally have been in operation for a number of years and can prove they are a reliable and trustworthy company. Some businesses who will intimate that they are manufacturers of conveyors, are actually just intermediarys, buying in the equipment to add a markup and sell on. These individuals do not manufacture the conveyor equipment themselves and as such have limited experience, customer service or spares facilities.

2. The conveyor you buy should come with a full warranty. You should query when pricing up your conveyor application what warranty period comes with this machine and what the warranty covers. A basic warranty may only cover a "back to base" repair or replacement, in which case you will have to send the faulty or damaged part back to the manufacturer. Sometimes a manufacturer will offer upgrades on the warranty and it is often a good idea to take one of these to cover engineer visits.

3. Going for the cheapest conveyor is not always the best option. A lot of machine shops will try their hand at building a conveyor if they are a short on work and will most likely offer an extremely cheap price, this does not always mean you will be getting the best conveyor for your process.

4. A conveyor manufacturer will often request samples of product when building you a conveyor. Conveyors are often designed specifically for a specific application so to be sure it will work correctly as soon as it is delivered you should provide samples so the conveyor can be tested before shipping.
