Marcus and Joni Lamb: Engagement and Marriage

After they had been dating a couple of years, Marcus Lamb knew it was time to ask Joni to be his wife. He traveled to Greenville, South Carolina on a break from his revival schedule to propose.

Joni knew Marcus was coming to Greenville so she called and told him her mom was making a home cooked meal. She said that they could eat there, rather than going out. It was Valentine's Day, but she knew how much he enjoyed eating home cooked food since he traveled all the time. However, Marcus surprised her by saying he wanted to take her to a Chinese restaurant instead.

Once they got to the restaurant, they ate their dinner and waited on their fortune cookies. Marcus Lamb let Joni pick her cookie first. When she opened it, the fortune read, "Joni Lynn, will you marry me?" She was surprised and said, "Yes!" with a smile. Marcus had expected a bigger reaction, but was pleased she said yes. He then presented her with a box of chocolates, with the ring hidden inside.

Marcus Lamb married Joni Trammell on August 6, 1982 at the Tremont Avenue Church of God, Joni's home church, in Greenville, South Carolina. They stood before their family and friends and exchanged vows to love each other forever.

At the end of the ceremony, Marcus Lamb had a surprise for Joni. As they kissed, a box was opened above the stage and flower petals fell from the ceiling on the newly married couple. The crowd loved it, and most importantly, so did Joni.

Marcus and Joni Lamb set off to evangelize together, and several years later began their TV ministry in Alabama.
