How to earn money for kids 2

Consider others first

Kids the way to earn money is to think of others first. This is counter intuitive'; by that I mean it is not the way we would naturally be inclined to do things. When we are thinking of earning money for ourselves (selfish thought), it is not likely that we should do that by thinking of how to help others (generous or other person centred thought). But that is often how life works; quite clever really isn't it? Think about it a little longer: you have not got enough money, others have; what can you do to exchange something that you have for something that they want. You need to try and put yourself in their position (not easy when you are young) and think about what you might like someone like you to do for them.

Go the extra mile

You want people to be happy to pay you. What would make you happy to pay someone else? Imagine if someone offered to do something for you, and you agreed to pay them, but they did it so well that you wanted to reward them with a bonus. They had gone the extra-mile' for you as we say. They had done more than you expected and you like them anyway, they are polite, on time, hard working, considerate etc (try adding a few more descriptions here). Now you've got it. Go out and be all those things to someone else and you'll discover how like you they are in this respect. You might find that they will employ you, again and again.

Be helpful

No body objects to having a kindness shown them. Many like to reward others who help them, when they were under no family or other obligation to do so. Being a friend and doing things for others in a sacrificial manner (i.e. for no reward) can lead to people liking you or feeling indebted to you. Sometimes they will offer to pay you. While you should not accept payment for what you have done out of kindness, you may express a willingness to do the same again in future for reward. Where you leave the amount to their discretion, people are often more generous than you expect, especially if you exceed their expectations.

A valuable life skill

Trying to earn money is very good for you, because it teaches you very important life skills and rewards you as you become better at serving others in ways that they appreciate. Amazing as it may seem, some adults have never learned these life skills.

Think about it

You have energy, strength, creativity, there are things that you can do well that older people either can't do, or would be willing to pay to have done for them. Think about what other people need or want now (not in the future). Think of how you can help them in practical ways to get what they need or want. When you have thought of some ideas then think about how you could do what they want for them and what they would be prepared to pay. It might be helpful to ask other people for their ideas too, especially older people who are the sort of people you would like to help.
