How to Achieve the Right Alcohol Detoxification Diet

To make sure that any person undergoing detoxification has the right alcohol detoxification diet can be a daunting task. Oftentimes, a client with alcohol problems also has the problem of poor nutrition. Thus, compelling the client to eat the right food during detoxification is not easy because the client's body has been used to not ingesting any nutritious foods for so long that sometimes the client's body won't be able to take it in easily.

Hence, during detoxification a step by step plan is followed.

Part of the plan is to increase the fluid intake of the client so that toxins may be washed out through voiding and clean out the colon; thus, eliminating all impurities brought about by prolonged alcohol consumption. A very important thing for any plan to be effective and the client to stay with the plan is the support coming from family and friends. Next in line is the ingestion of nutritious foods such as fruits and vegetables that will be of big impact to supplement all lost nutrients during the intoxication phase. The most important of these are the fiber-rich foods to help detoxify the colon and wash away all the carcinogens that may be present in the client's body that could cause cancers.

Next in line is the elimination of fatty foods, sugar and caffeine because this could hamper the effectiveness of the detoxification therapy. Watercress has also been found to help in detoxification. Another part of the plan is to give a client the vitamins and minerals except iron (for men) needed for an alcohol detoxification diet. A powdered form of these vitamins and minerals is much preferred over the pill or tablet form because absorption is not 100% guaranteed.

A reminder when preparing an alcohol detoxification diet is to not buy all the needed fruits and vegetables as well as vitamins and mineral supplements at once since detoxification dieting is a process and to increase efficacy it should be done slowly but steadily. In this way, the client will not find the detoxification diet a tough and complicated process. Although there is no perfect detoxification diet because this is not a perfect science. Just don't forget the client is the more important factor.
