Backcountry experience by Car

Car camping is a great way to experience nature without having to exert a huge amount of strength. Many of the old folks who once loved and still love the outdoors but no longer have the strength and endurance to backpack find car camping a wonderful option to get in touch with what they always loved to do when they were young. Even if you are not bushwalking in some wilderness or in a remote area of some national park, you can still find outdoor locations that would suit car camping and will make it as rewarding as the backcountry hike experience.

If you go car camping you have the luxury of carrying a lot more gear than the regular backpacker. The outdoor camping essentials would always be present though. By essentials, we mean proper clothing and backpacking gear with the sleeping bags, food, first aid kits, Swiss Army knife, toiletries, insect repellents and camping tents. When you're out car camping you can bring all of these and more. More in size and in number really.

Speaking of outdoor camping tents, when you're out on that car camping trip to experience nature, there are two common ways to go about your shelter setup. You can use a car tent which can easily be attached to your vehicle. These tents are best connected to SUVs (see SUV tent), minivans and pick-up trucks. Car tents, depending on the design, can either be attached in the side, rear of the roof rack or can be wrapped around your vehicle's rear end. There is also what they call a rooftop tent for literally higher grounds but is again dependent on the type of vehicle you are using. If you feel camping setups are too tedious for you or your companions, you can always consider buying a trailer. It is convenient and private. Depending on size, quality and weight trailers usually cost expensive. But you can still try checking out used ones which are still in good condition or resort to renting instead.
