This years annual film festival, theWashington DC Independent Film Festival(DCIFF), will be running form the 3rd to the 13th of March. The event brings in individuals from across the country as well as attracting interest from further afield within Europe and the rest of the globe. The event provides a wide range of activities that the whole family can enjoy with further attractions available with the surrounding vicinity.

The event is anaward winning annual film festival showcasing independent films from around the world. Participants of the annual event will also be offered aMusic Festival,Workshops conducted by industry professionals; providing cultivation and opportunity to the DC community. This annual event is widely acknowledged as one of the most widely anticipated events within the film industry among those involved within the industry itself to those who merely enjoy the art on a more recreational level.

The Washington DC Independent Film Festival (DCIFF) also presents the "Independent Film Summit on the Hill" which brings together filmmakers and policymakers to discuss the state of the industry. Throughout the ten day event over 100 films will be showcased ranging from short to animation to documentary. Many of these films have previously gone onto Cannes, Sundance and Academy Awards.

Whilst in the vicinity attendees of the DCIFF also have the opportunity to take in some of the historical monuments and institutions which include; the Lincoln Memorial, the Library of Congress, the Smithsonian museums and Capitol Hill. Along with these attractions, downtown DC hosts a variety of tours and day events which may be undertaken which include the International Spy Museum and the Newseum to name but two.

Those looking to undertake more recreational orientated activities can relax and unwind in one of the finestluxury hotels in Washington D.C. By day the city has many independent boutiques, antique shops and big brands stores to offer on the cobblestone streets of old Georgetown, or browse the open-air arts and crafts stalls with the locals at Eastern Market. Catch a Broadway show, opera or concert at The Kennedy Center, or tour the monuments under the moonlight with a shuttle tour.
