The US debt is 14 trillion dollars and the FED is printing money to pay that debt. But with all the dollars printed, the dollar gets weaker. With a weak dollar the American economy is very fragile. And with the ongoing protest in the Middle East the oil and food prices will rise. A weak economy just cannot handle expensive food and oil. We will probably see the big signs of a collapse in the following months. Be ready. Buy precious metals to be sure you'll not lose it all. If all your savings are in dollars, in the next few yeas the dollar might be valueless.
So the situation is alarming but is there any hope? I think a quote by Warren Buffet describes the situation well: "I think the most important factor in getting out of the recession actually is just the regenerative capacity of - of American capitalism."
After the recession, will the United States become a poor country? I think this is highly unlikely because there are too many brilliant minds, too many great companies in America. Think about Google or Microsoft. Those great companies were created by Americans with a dream. There are millions of them in the United States right now. They will help the economy to recover in a few years.
The only problem is that it will take time for the country to recover. Actually there is something that can prevent the country from being one of the greatest economies in the world. It's politics. If there is an economy collapse there will be hyperinflation and a lot of poverty. This kind of situations usually brings big political changes. Maybe there will be some leader who will convince the American population that socialism is the solution. I think that it's unlikely but when people are hungry they can choose real extreme solutions. Let's hope it will not happen. Even if America doesn't become a socialist country the world will change. The United States will not have the power it has today. China will probably become the first economic and politic power in the world and Asia the richest continent.
Maybe all of this will not happen. Maybe a politician will find the solution and will prevent the economy from collapsing. But it's always better to be ready for the worse.
