To provide fullness where it is needed - above the nipple - Professor Kirwanmoves the gland from the lower part of the breast to the upper area. It is kept attached at its lower end to preserve the blood supply. To reduce scarring, Kirwan uses a lollipop-shaped closure. Laurence Kirwan started working on his own techniques for breast surgery in the late 1990s and has become internationally recognised for his breast lifting procedures. Every year since 1998 he has been invited to give teaching workshops on his techniques to other surgeons in the USA, where British-born Kirwan trained as a cosmetic surgeon and has had a practice in Connecticut for 20 years. He also operates in Manhattan, where he has consulting rooms on Fifth Avenue.
