London, the capital of England and this famous city is known for the huge and unique structures. The architecture in London is antique and old too. The towers and skyscrapers in whole of the United Kingdom are mostly located in London. Shard London bridge will be the largest and tallest of structure when it is completed by 2012. When it will be completed, it will become the tallest building in the European Union.

One Canada square is the tallest completed building having 50 storeys and which was complete in 1991. It is located in London and is the tallest building in the United Kingdom, also the 15 tallest in whole of the Europe. So, London has the honor to have the tallest of building in whole of the United Kingdom. The second tallest building is the Heron Towers which is located in London and stands at a height of 230 meters. The first tallest building was built all the way back in 1098 when they constructed a building of 90 feet at that time and it was the tallest in London. That building was known as White Tower. There are many ancient buildings and structures in England and especially in London. This shows that London has had many buildings and which are way too ancient. Despite its long history and constant rebuilding, London does not have a large number of skyscrapers. This is due to restrictions on building heights originally imposed by the London Building Act of 1894.

There are numerous skyscrapers under construction in London at this time and they seem to be enhancing the beauty of the city even more. In whole of the United Kingdom there are more than 45 building that are being completed are taller than 100 meters. And not surprisingly, out of those 45 tall building London has 15 of them which are above the 100 meter mark. This proves the fact that London is the heat of England. More than 45 buildings have been approved and given a green light to be built in London by 2020 which has more than 100 meter height. That's not the end; more than 25 buildings are in the process of being approved to be built in London and are taller than 100 meters. Once these huge and giant structures are completed it will add a lot not just to the beauty of this city but also to the economy of the country. These mega projects that are under progress will also bring in a lot of tourists to the city ultimately it will add a lot to the country. This shows that despite the fact that London has old and antique structures, they are also focusing on getting their noses in front and build new buildings in whole of the United Kingdom especially London.

Tourism adds a lot to the national economy of England out of which London plays a vital role. This shows the importance of the capital of England, the heart of England known as London.
