How to Move Safely in London

A lot of people form the migrant population of London, moving from one place to another. Sometimes, the relocation is due to jobs and career and other time due to education or for a variety of reasons that life throws up. What is constant is that London moving is stressful and full of untold disasters waiting to happen. Here we have made a list of lessons learnt from our experiences and from others' on how to move and relocate safely.

1. Though it sounds clichd but making lists at this time is very useful. There are all kinds of lists that you should prepare. Such as documents you need for transfer which may be school transfer or transfer of banking accounts, what items you want to take with you, lists of packing material required, lists of books or other items borrowed which need to be returned, list of stuff which people have borrowed from you and you need to get it back etc.

2. Make a special list for all offices, banks, credit card companies, subscriptions etc that you need to inform about your change of address. This should be done in advance so that by the time of your move the change has taken place.

3. Decide whether you want moving companies to pack and move for you or you would rather tackle it yourself. London moving companies are very professional and promise a stress free move for you also ensuring all your valuables are safely packed and no damage occurs in transit.

4. If you want a London moving company it is better to book them at least one month in advance so that you are not running around at the last minute looking for a London moving company. This would also give you the chance to discuss prices with them and ensure you get a good economical deal.

5. Now that you have made the lists, procure all the packing material, unless London moving company is coming to pack your luggage for you.

6. Take a good look at all your stuff. Discard the ones that you do not want to carry with you. It would be nice to hold a garage sale many days before you relocate so that it does not come in way of your packing and moving. You can also donate clothes and other items to charity.

7. Sort out items which are difficult and more expensive to transport than top buy new at your new place. This includes some electronic appliances.

8. Start sorting out stuff to pack according to categories. Make lists while they go into boxes. Make sure all accessories belonging to an appliance are all together in the same box.

9. Pack all your important documents such as the ones you will need immediately after moving to your new house into one box and mark it as such.

10. Pack a box of essential items such as a rudimentary kitchen, linen for sleeping etc. this box can be the first one to open on reaching the new place so that you have a running house immediately. And the last but not the least, remain cool. A calm and composed mind can find solutions for the most difficult problems and since moving is an inevitable part of life it is better not to give yourself stress over this.
