Car Accident Hints and Tips - Survive The Crash

Car accidents occur on a regular basis in the UK and it is often quite distressing for all involved. Unfortunately, due to the sheer amount of cars that are on our roads, it is likely that it will happen at least once in your life, however major or minor. If you are in an accident then make sure you are prepared:

Carry a pad and disposable camera in your car. It sounds a little silly but shock can cause you to forget things, and this is the best way to preserve the information. This way if there is an accident you can take pictures of the location and any damage that may have occurred. This will help the police and insurance company later on.

Carry your vehicle details including cart insurance documents in the glove compartment so they are to hand if they are needed. Its often that in a minor accident you will simply have to exchange car insurance details with the other parties.

Remain calm and polite as not to cause any aggravation but make sure that you do not discuss blame. Even saying you are sorry can put you on a bad foot. This is for the insurance companies to decide, so remain pleasant and get things sorted as soon as possible.

Get the full name and address of the other driver, and try to get their phone number. Don't forget to ask for the name of their insurer so you can pass the information to their insurance company.

Note down anything unusual you notice about the car, and take a note of the make, model and registration number. Some cars will be uninsured or parts of scams so even if you think the nuance is irrelevant, make a note.

Take the contact details of any other cars that have stopped or any independent witnesses that are on foot. If the blame is disputed then you will have some sort of back up.

Sometimes the police don't attend a car accident, depending on the severity, so by doing all these things you should make it easier for the Car Insurance providers to establish who was at fault and reimburse all parties accordingly.
