GANGSTER'S PARADISE: Scorsese, Pacino, De Niro and Pesci unite for "The Irishman"

So it may just as well end up happening after all. The one news every movie maniac has been wishing to hear for decades now, deep down in the heart of his hearts. A film to be directed by Martin Scorsese and starring Al Pacino. The big question mark always remained as to what made the two cinema legends never work together, not once, not all these many years. How much would you have given to see Pacino alongside De Niro, Pesci and Harvey Keitel in a mob movie directed by Scorsese? What sight it would have been in deed. Years passed by even as Pacino acted in a series of great films playing unforgettable onscreen characters that have over time got a life of their own. Scorsese in the mean while had his set of masterpieces teaming up with De Niro on eight occasions.

It was the 1995 Michael Mann cult Heat' which brought Robert De Niro and Al Pacino together for the first time. (Although they had both starred in the Godfather II before, the duo did not share any screen space). The Heat' in the end generated a lot of box office heat for the brilliant lead performances from both the on-screen Gods, wining over fans and critics alike. What came next after years was another team up of both Al and Bob in the much anticipated and awaited buddy cop flick Righteous Kill' in 2008, Directed by Jon Avnet. It astonishingly proved to be a cold turkey leaving millions of fans worldwide in a bitter state of mind. But then, deep down devotees yet yearned to see the Big Two' together more often in the movies. And to have Scorsese behind the camera would plainly add to the magnificent experience.

So here it is then, although yet in early stages, if all goes well, "The Irishman" is well on its way. Scorsese's latest mob flick will see an overwhelming team up of Al Pacino, Robert De Niro and Joe Pesci. The crime thriller will follow the life of a mob hit man, Frank The Irishman' Sheeran. This character is apparently to be played by DeNiro. The film is based on a book I Heard You Paint Houses' by Charle's Brandt. "The Irishman" will be one rare happening if everything falls in the right place. As for diehard movie aficionados, this is one event they had been waiting for all their lives. This might as well be among the greatest of Gangster films to have ever hit the giant screen. It just doesn't get any bigger than this, "The Irishman" is coming and there is bound to be a lot of blood on the streets.
