DirecTV Offers Higher Price For Vods - Is It Worth Investing?

Satellite TV providers offer a lot of deals every now and then to attract customers or to retain them. They employ every means to increase their revenues and expand business opportunities. No doubt, these offers and deals are lucrative, but it has some flaws hidden in them. This is obvious with numerous complaints that have come to the forefront regarding DirecTV. It is a well known provider in America and offers many superb promotional deals, but with hidden fee and charges though. This has really misled people into signing up with the company, who later face the brunt. Thereby, with each passing day it is becoming highly difficult for people to believe in what is offered by DirecTV. But this has not deterred company in any way. Along with the counting number of allegations, it is still offering best deals in the entertainment industry!

DirecTV, a leading satellite TV service provider has recently come up with an option to offer movies on demand to its subscribers at a price $30+. In fact, it is offering movies under this scheme which are still at the theaters. This can be a novel initiative on the part of the company, but what boggles customers is that whether they are willing to take movies on rent for a price which is higher.

In a recent report published by LA Times, DirecTV is looking to introduce its product by the end of June with movies from 20th Century Fox, Sony Pictures and Warner Bros. Walt Disney Pictures is also in talks to join the initiative, the people said, while Paramount Pictures and Universal Pictures are not expected to participate initially."

However, the satellite TV giant is charging more than $30 for these exclusive movies that are running in theaters. For an average viewer, this is definitely a much higher price tag that would be invested in watching movies at home. However, if we compare the expenses all-inclusive of the cost of food and tickets for either a family or a couple, who would want to enjoy a night out, this is certainly lesser amount. Moreover, DirecTV focuses on the fact, that it is offering this premium VOD service exclusively to its subscribers so that they can watch latest Hollywood flicks even before these are released on DVDs.

Nevertheless, still there is something to ponder on. Firstly, is it worth investing in movies that are still running in theaters? A normal price of a theater ticket is about $12, which is too low! Isn't it that DirecTV is charging too high a price for movies on rent? Will consumers accept this offer? Another perspective can be that this is another plan of DirecTV to lure in more number of subscribers. The company wants to capture the consumer's market comprising mainly of movie lovers so that they can sign up with DirecTV and enjoy movies before these can be bought on DVDs? As a result, this scheme will bring down the DVDs market considerably! Well, until the offer releases and we watch out the consumer's response, it is difficult to comment exactly what will be the result of this offer.
