Pregnant? Learn How to Save Money on Baby Gear

When you find out that you are pregnant, it is very easy to get caught up with the excitment of the pregnancy and go shopping for the cute baby items. However, you need to think about how much money you actually have to spend for the new baby items and also do you really need everything right away?

The truth is that a newborn does not need too many things. A newborn baby needs diapers, formula (if formula feeding), a place to sleep, some clothes, a few blankets. All the other items that you see in stores may be nice to have, but not a necessity. Some things such as a high chair, baby proofing items, and an activity center can be purchased much later.

You can find out from your friends and/or family which baby products they found useful to have during the newborn stage to be prepared yourself. In the meantime you can focus on saving money for the essential baby gear that your little one will need once they get a little bit bigger.

It is also a good idea to shop around and look for deals when you are shopping for baby gear. You might be able to buy used baby items. Some things can be bought used because some parents have clothing with tags still on since babies grow very fast and may not even wear the clothes.

Also ask your friends and family with babies. Sometimes you will be able to borrow things from others or buy them for little money.

Just remember that there are many baby products that you can buy later because you don't need everything right away.

For the newborn stage you will definitely need: diapers, bottles, receiving blankets, onesies, newborn clothes, and a place for the baby to sleep.

Things you can buy later: high chair, feeding utensils, sippy cup, toys, childproofing items, jogging stroller, umbrella stroller.

And even when you are out shopping for things when your baby is old enough to need them, keep your eye on sales and coupons so that you can get the best deal and save some money in the process.
