subject: Sell Fort Knox Now ! [print this page] Simple and effectiveSimple and effective. Sell Fort Knox Gold, all of it ! Equally dispense it to every tax payer in the US that is a legal citizen. That is 147 Million Ounces X 100 dollars.
They will have to pay taxes on the gift, which will bail out the government. Many will put the money in banks, which will bail out the banks. Many will spend alot which will help the businesses and those businesses will put the money in banks and pay taxes on it, and hire employees. Social Security Tax would be paid, and that would bail them out as well as Medicare too.
Stipulations could be made that some of the money goes into a Health Account to improve individual health, exercise clubs, health clubs, nutrition education and supplements , alternative medicine (I can hear the pharmaceuticals rallying the lobbyists to bribe officials over that).
Stipulations could be made that some of it be spent on education, but not like the lottery where the real winners are the states that host them. Also paying for individual education. Weight loss incentives, more money into health account for proven weight loss. Similar Smoking incentives too ! With all the buzz around about health insurance, the costs will overwhelm the government how about some of the money going towards that too.
They have all the tools they need to fix many of our problems, and this is but one tool at their disposal. Why not do something that gives back to the people. After all, it was the governments neglect in creating policy to protect us from greedy corporations and failed policies. It seems to me they owe us an apology, and frankly the sales of all that gold is a major way to say it.
Here are some nay sayers excuses on why not to do this, and a short reply to those concerns. Well, the dollars value is based in part on gold. (Now that everyone knows the dollar is well on its way to bankrupt, infusing the money back into our economy and infrastructure would initially weaken it, but strengthen it over time as it trickles up. )
Many would quit their jobs (Probably will loose them anyway). Many would not work anymore (more jobs for others). Many would become lazy (The american way anyway)
The Gold is collateral for loans from the chinese. (Those loans will not be paid back by a defunct economy. But if we give the money out, the government will be able to pay it back because the people backing it have economic health).
People would flock to the US to become citizens prior to the stimulous release. (Back date it so that no one can take advantage of that.) Illegals would benefit from it . (No money goes to Illegal citizens.)
We are talking about alot of money per US citizen. You can take a lump sum payment or annualized. We have to create a new agency to delegate. (Use the IRS they already take and make payments to everyone.)
I sent this Idea to Obama, but I fear I am viewed as another crackpot making jabs at a lame duck government. We have lost more than we have been told, and its only the beginning write your congressman and tell him you want the gold, and you believe the government owes it to the citizens for its neglect and mis-management of the countries policies.
They knew years before 2008 when they announced our economy was in trouble. The cost of a home could not keep escalating at the rate it was, while salaries were frozen, and jobs were being outsourced overseas. Nobody would be able to afford a house accept the rich.
Automobiles manufactured in detroit could be bought overseas for alot less. These events and many others were stoppable by policy as greed was fueling the whole thing and the bubble finally burst.
Our jobs were stolen, 401ks robbed, values of our homes taken away, our rights eroded, Our health care ruined, and we mistakenly invaded another country for which we will pay for generations. I loved JFKs famous saying inspiring us to do for our country, but in todays reality the government owes it citizens a lot simply because they have failed at their jobs of GOVERNANCE ! I think its time for them to payup now !
