Hypnotherapy can help your child that suffers from Asthma

Did you know that more than 1.1million children in the UK suffer from Asthma? Initially, one would think it is quite a large amount, but according to the NHS, asthma symptoms may well disappear once children hit their teenage years. I was a former sufferer too, and believe me, I can completely empathise with children (and adults too!) who are going through that horrible suffocating symptoms once the asthma attacks.

Even today, the full extent of what causes asthma is not completely understood. What we do know however, is what can set off an attack. It does differ from one person to the next and I remember that intense exercise as well as dust would trigger my attacks. For others the triggers may include cigarette smoke, pollen, stress or colds.

Luckily, sufferers will have an idea when the attacks will happen. The warning lights might not flash in fluorescent pink, but signs will show themselves. Doctors, therapists and anyone who knows anything about asthma will tell you to remain calm when an attack occurs. But, because your airways are constricting and you may get to a point that you are physically unable to get sufficient oxygen into your body, being calm is the very last thing on your mind.
Hypnotherapy can help your child that suffers from Asthma

Asthma attacks can be terrifying for children, especially since they may have no idea what and why it is happening to them. By using hypnosis, calm can be restored in the stormy water that is asthma in the following ways:

A child suffering from asthma can learn from a child therapist how to visualise their airways as being relaxed and open.

The Child therapist can give suggestions such as to remain calm when they think an attack is going to happen.

A child therapist can teach them how to shift their focus away from the discomfort they feel.

Hypnosis is a safe and painless procedure and is one of the most effective methods to achieve a natural relaxed state. By working closely with your child, a therapist would be able to open up your child's mind to suggestion and the state of relaxation alone can ease the anxiety and stress that can cause an attack. This means that using auto suggestion, it may be possible for a person to stop the asthma attack before it begins.

NLP4Kids has expert child therapists based in Hertfordshire and provides child therapy in Buckinghamshire and Kent. There is specialist therapy for children in Chester, Reading and Cambridgeshire. We also have a child and student therapist in Hong Kong.
