You will soon notice even with the very best of pond equipment that it starts to get a scale building up on it which is a lime buildup. This is something that you want to get rid of as it starts to build, as it not only looks unsightly but can eventually cause the damage to your pond equipment. By treating the lime when it is first noticed as building up is better than leaving it for a long period of time where it becomes thick and much more difficult to remove. Even if you are removing your equipment for the winter it would be wise to use these special Pond treatments to remove the lime as opposed to using any other type of cleaner.
