Rajasthan that is renowned among tourist for its Tharp Desert, culture and chivalry is the largest state of the republic of India. The prominent attraction on the vacations in Rajasthan is its challenging Great Indian Desert, Thar. It spreads along the Sutlej Indus valley along parallel to Pakistan border. The state of Rajasthan in India is surrounded in the west from Pakistan, Gujarat in its south west, Uttar Pradesh and Haryana in north east direction and Punjab to the North. The total area of the state is 342, 239 square kilometer. It is about 10 percent of India's total area. The Rajasthan also has the world's oldest mountain ranges, the Aravalli range. The state also has the famous tiger reserves, Rantambore and Sariska Tiger Reserve. But Rajasthan is incomplete without its palaces and forts. There are many forts in the states; however, the most popular Rajasthan forts are Achalgarh Fort, Amber Fort, Bhadrajun, Chittorgarh Fort, Deeg Palace, Jaigarh Fort, Jaisalmer Fort, Jalore Fort, Junagarh Fort, Kumbhalgarh, Lohagarh Fort, Fort Madhogarh and Ranthambore Fort. Among the Rajasthan Palaces, the most beautiful and popular one are Hawa Mahal, Sariska Palace, Jai Mahal Palace, Amer Palace, City Palace Jaipur, City Palace Udaipur, Lake Palace Udaipur, The Taragarh, Fateh Prakash Palace, Lalgarh Palace, Umaid Bhawan Palace, Nathmal Ki Haveli, Patwon Ki Haveli, Padmini's Palace, The City Palace-Alwar, Chittorgarh Fort, Rana Kumbha Palace, Deogarh Mahal, Balsammand Palace, Jal Mahal, Shiva Nivas Palace and Lakshmi Vilas.

With respect to tourism potential in India, Rajasthan catches about 15% of foreign tourist visiting India that comes at forth place.
