Nuisance of Spring

Nuisance of Spring

Spring is almost upon us, here in the northern hemisphere. Spring, this glorious time of the year, when nature turns from grey to glowing, when people turn from drab to delighted, all around us we see promise of life and excitement. Those of us with green fingers start itching for soil preparation, we take stock of seeds left over from last spring, acquire more if needed, rummage through equipment lockers. Yes, its a grand time of the year.

Not so for all, though. For some of us its only a promise of miseries to come. Allergy. In early spring trees start spreading pollen and grasses subsequently take over. Any plant that uses airborne pollen for reproduction is a threat to people with pollen allergy. And if a deep breath of fresh spring air is a delight to most, to some it is downright hazardous. Sore eyes, running noses, skin rashes, even dangerous swellings may occur. This has to be fought with all available weapons, to turn this season from dreaded to something to look forward to.

Medicine has provided us with a wide assortment of pharmaceuticals to fight allergy, and allergy is certainly more than just hay fever. People can be allergic to various common foodstuffs, to elements and compounds that are all around us, even in extreme instances against their own bodies. These allergies are serious health problems and have to be dealt with constantly. Lifestyles have to be adjusted and medication applied without hesitation when needed.
Nuisance of Spring

The problems that spring imposes upon some of us are, in comparison, a minor nuisance. Admittently a thoroughly uncomfortable nuisance, can in some cases cause asthmatical symptoms that are hard to bear, but are generally not life threatening. Those who have had the means, have been known to migrate (temporarily) to parts of the globe that is rather barren of vegetation. The Icelandic hinterland has been a refuge, so would probably be the sands of Africa if there were not threats of a deadlier nature.

Hay fever sufferers have all heard of stuff like Cetirizin, Loratidin and many other products, that have effectively been used to battle the effects of pollen. They are of course available, but would it not be poetic justice to use nature against these side effects of natures most beautiful season? Several ways are available, both through Herbal Remedies and nutritious food.

And I would like you to take a look at this blog on allergy, amongst other issues.
