Maruti Versa was one of the multi utility vehicles of India from the leading automaker Maruti Suzuki. Most of the components of this car were manufactured in India It was launched in 2001 and the model was discontinued in 2010. Though it had the platform of Omni, the interiors and the styling was pretty impressive compared to Omni, was more spacious and comfortable as well. Though it lasted only for few years it was one of the hit models and most suited luxury multi utility vehicle for Indian customers, with a repute of being a family car and very much ideal for long family trips.
Maruti Versa was equipped with 1.3 Liter MPFI petrol engine with the displacement of 1298 cc with four cylinder, 16 valves, which are controlled by 16-bit Engine Management System. The engine is highly powerful with a capacity to churn out maximum power of 82 bhp at the rate of 6000 rpm and 102 nm at the rate of 3000 rpm. Apart from that, it was equipped with innovative DDLI (dual coil distributor less ignition) that makes sure to deliver better performance.
Maruti Versa had mind blowing exterior and impressive interior. The body color bumper in its exterior made the car more attractive and the body graphics were an additional attraction to its exterior. Its front grille with halogen headlamps subtle with each other and made the car trendy. Coming to its interior, it had comfortable sliding doors and remote operated windows. It had perfect seating with ample of space and apart from that it had the molded carpet that came with felt-under layer. Further more, the interior was equipped with dual A/C, attractive instrumental cluster, cabin lamp and many more features. Maruti Versa colors available were superior white, metallic midnight black, metallic silky silver, pearl silver and icy blue.
As far as the safety was concerned, it was loaded with seat belts, unique child lock system, head restraints with height adjustment, doors come with side impact absorbing beams, the rebound spring and anti-roll bar provide corner stability. Available in three variants but only with petrol engine, Maruti Versa price ranged between five lacs and six lacs. As for the seating capacity, the car had two options either five seater or eight seater.
As a conclusion, it was the best family car that was slightly high priced. Maruti Suzuki India discontinued the model, only to get the Versa replaced by the improvised Maruti Eeco that too at an affordable price.
