Spring has finally sprung! If the long winter has left you feeling cooped up and restless, why not shake off your cabin fever and travel? Here are 5 of the best places to be around the world right now:

Paris, France

The Best Places to Travel This Spring

Paris in the spring is spectacular enough that somebody wrote a song about it, and if you visit you'll see why: balmy weather, sunshine and flowers, plus all of the attractions Paris is known for at other times of the year. Additionally, spring is a "shoulder season" for tourists to the area, so if you visit now you'll benefit from somewhat lower prices on airfare and lodging.

Italy

Italy is another place that's just better in the spring. In the summer, it's hot, and the major tourist attractions can be extremely crowded. Long lines plus heat equals a less fun experience. In the spring, it's temperate, even a little chilly in the mountains. If you get out into the countryside, wildflowers are everywhere, especially in sunny Tuscany, known for its springtime display of irises.

The Netherlands

If you're lucky enough to visit the Netherlands in the spring, you'll be awed by the awesome displays of tulips and other bulbs. The Netherlands is the world's largest producer of tulips, so they really put on an impressive show. Check out the bulb festivals in the countryside, too!

St. Lucia, Caribbean

Get an early start lounging on the beach on this pretty, quiet Caribbean island. Visiting in the spring makes sense because the snowbirds have mostly gone home, resulting in quieter beaches and lower prices.

Tokyo, Japan

Spring is also a great time to visit Tokyo. The weather is perfect this time of year, and if you time it just right, you can be in town to check out the famous cherry blossoms in Ueno Park this April.

If you want to travel internationally this spring, you simply have to have a US passport. That means you'd better get your application in now it takes about 6 weeks for the government to process a normal application and about three weeks if you request expedited processing from the US Department of State. However, if you already have a trip out of the country set up and you're leaving within the next 14 days, you can get faster service by making an appointment at the one of twenty-four regional passport agency offices that serve the United States, or use a private passport expediting company like RushMyPassport.
