What you see - On the banks of the Hussain Sagar Lake, Eat Street is a hangout destination popular among people of all age groups in Hyderabad. Abuzz with energy, the ambience is rather loud and noisy. Though the place is generally packed with guests, waiting for a place to sit is never a problem as there is a lot to indulge in. For starters, there is a tattoo shop, a gift shop from where you can pick up a surprise gift to impress your guest, a photo shop which does cool portraits and numerous picturesque backdrops against which you can click your next Facebook picture. Your kids can too have a rollicking time as there is a separate play area with rides for small children. And if none of these options interest you for a good time pass, you can well take a walk along the breezy Eat Street watching the legendry Buddha statue. You could also take a quick boat-ride to the statue and be awed by its beauty. And if you can make it around the dusk time, you can also catch the breathtaking view of the sunset.
What you get - With enough for you to indulge in, Eat Street is just the perfect unwinding getaway you can visit with your family. And with so many food and snacking options available, you will surely be spoilt for choice.
For Chaat lovers, there is an Ohri's counter famous for its Golgappas, Chana Bhatura, Dahi Papdi, Pav Bhaji, Aaloo Chaat and Raj Kachori. At any time of the day, the Ohri's counter invariably has patrons waiting for their orders. The Jalebi and Malpua served here is awesome too. For the pizza-burger fans, there are Pizza Hut and Mamu's Burger outlets offering cool meal combos. For the calorie-conscious, there is a Subway with its evergreen sandwiches on the menu.
The Minerva Coffee House counter dishes out, obviously, yummy dosas and uttapams. Interestingly, the counter is the first one to open at 7 in the morning catering to its filter coffee and idli fans. There is a Chinese food counter as well serving decent noodle/rice combos with regular Chinese curries like Manchurian and Stir fried veggies. For the Hyderabadi in you, there is a biryani counter too serving yummy Veg, Chicken and Mutton biryani with Mirchi-ka-salan. North Indian combos on the lines of Rajma rice, Butter paneer and Naan apart from Tandoori chicken and Paratha are also available.
Eat Street is a cool coffee and brownie dating place too since it has a Cafe Coffee Day counter. For light munching, there are options like Frankie, Corn Club, Candy Floss and Amore Ice cream. Soft drinks are available at all counters.
There is ample seating space, with basic chair-table sort of furniture, not very comfortable though.
Our verdict - With a carnival-like scenario all-year-round, Eat Street is always a promising outing option, barring rainy days when the lake gets a bit stinky. Open all day long, you can go to Eat Street just for a casual chit-chat with your friends, even if you don't want to eat anything. There are plenty of eating options catering to every palate, all available at regular prices. Value for money indeed! Paid GHMC parking facility is available across the road.
Anytime between - 11 AM 11 PM (with exception to Minerva which opens at 7 AM)
