Holidaying In Nerja

The amazing Nerja

Nerja is now a very famous and at the same time popular tourist destination on the warm Costa del Sol. It stands somewhere east of Malaga, so this has kept it away from the mass tourism that surrounds the west of Malaga; this is the reason why Nerja never gets too crowded and also the reason why its natural charm has not been spoilt, keeping its spirit of a traditional fishing village alive. Staying at the foothills of the Sierra Almijara Mountains, Nerja is always protected from extreme weather which means that any time of the year is perfect to enjoy its whitewashed houses and villas.

Attractions in Nerja

Balcon de Europa is probably one of the main attractions in Nerja as it offers some of the most beautiful and picturesque views over the wonderful beaches and waters of the Mediterranean Sea. The Balcon is now a very popular area in Nerja, full of carriages always ready to take tourists on a nice tour of the town, street entertainers and last but not the least, ice-cream vendors. This is also the perfect location for enjoying a delicious dinner, watching the spectacular sun set. The Old Quarter is also an important attraction as it is packed with houses and monuments that still display the unique Andalusia architectural style that I am sure will charm you. Enjoy the narrow and cobbled streets, the crafts shops that sell ceramics, leather objects, textiles and beautiful hand-made souvenirs.

The nightlife

Since it is such a popular holiday destination, the nightlife is always very active. Tourists can spend wonderful hours in one of the tranquil bars that you will find very close to the Balcon de Europa or in one of the clubs that wait for their energetic visitors in the Tutti Frutti Square. These clubs are always open until late, but if you want to experience the typical Andalusia atmosphere, spend some time in a more relaxed bar or pub.

The natural attractions

The beaches in Nerja are absolutely amazing; some of them are hidden within picturesque, small coves, others will charm you with their delicate, golden sands and their perfectly blue waters. If you are a nature lover, do not hesitate to visit the Nerja Caves, situated just 3 kilometers away from Nerja. They will impress you with their stalactites and stalagmites, so offer them some of your attention! Have fun!
