Country Cover

An insurance company have this week released information to show trends for home insurance in certain areas of the country, and how the recession has affected how we view insurance policies.

It has revealed that Liverpudlians are the most cautious homeowners in the country, as in January, the average valuation of home contents insurance was highest in Liverpudlian postcodes. The results showed that this was a climb of over 41 percent on the last year, highlighting police campaigns for safety in the area over the last twelve months. This is great news, as during the recession, Liverpool showed the highest plunge in insurance policies, and companies were worried about the cover on houses, and whether it would cause a boon in theft in the area.

In contrast, Manchester, Leeds and London have shown the smallest increase in home insurance valuations, and have been urged to check their policies to see if they cover their houses adequately.

It is important, that when the economy is in troubled times, that houses are adequately insured. When disposable income declines, it can cause a rise in theft, and although an insurance premium seems like an unnecessary extra, if you are burgled, it is a lot cheaper than having to replace your valuables.

Another problem that Home Insurance customers have seen is a rise in the cost of premiums, due to a number of false claims being made. This has unfairly pushed the cost up for reliable members of the public, due to the actions of the few.
