London is known for its myriad attractions, so it makes sense to choose this bustling city as the perfect location for a family holiday. After all, with so much to see and do, it's really not difficult to imagine that there'll be something for everyone - and there is!
Whatever your family is into, be it sightseeing and taking in all of London's most famous buildings and monuments or exploring beautiful parks and gardens - or even checking out places like the zoo and aquarium to see some exotic and beautiful animals, London has it all.
As a family holiday destination, London is unrivalled and, once you've been on your trip to this exciting city, you'll easily see why.
It's only natural to want to take in some of London's most iconic sights on your first trip and, thankfully, the nature of London's fame is so great that the kids will probably be every bit as excited to see Big Ben and Buckingham Palace as you are. What's fantastic about London's centre is that all of the big sights are so close to one another that you'll never have to travel too far to get from one place to another - but the underground subway system is still always there to help if you're tired.
At Westminster, the parliamentary buildings sit beside iconic clock tower Big Ben, and Westminster Abbey is also in the same square. Just around the corner, you have the Embankment and the river it runs alongside: the Thames. Across the water, you'll be able to spot the London Eye, behind which is popular attraction the London Aquarium, as well as the Tate Modern and, if you're in the right spot, St Paul's Cathedral, which lies opposite the Tate hidden by a circle of other buildings.
On the other side of Westminster, you can walk towards Trafalgar Square, passing Downing Street on the way, and also make your way through St James Park, which is just outside Buckingham Palace.
All of the above can easily be walked to and from, but even if you'd prefer to take buses or the underground, getting around is easy. Best of all, all of this can be done for free! So if you're trying to save cash on your family holiday and staying in one of the cheap hotels in London, you'll be pleased to know there are also plenty of other things that can be done in the city for free.
