Tourists who are visiting the coastal city of Swansea for a weekend break will find a number of things to see and do. The city's beaches, gardens, museums and historic sites have something for everyone. Visitors will find a large selection of merchandise at the Swansea Indoor Market. The beach is a short walk from Swansea's city centre. Sunbathers will find plenty of places to relax on the soft sand here. People who want exercise will be able to walk along the beach for several miles. Bicyclists can ride on the lane that runs next to the beach. This beach runs along Swansea Bay to the village of Mumbles. Visitors can take the Swansea Bay Rider train along part of the Swansea Promenade to Mumbles.

A variety of plants can be seen in Swansea's public gardens. Clyne Gardens is known for rhododendrons. Visitors can see plants from deserts, rainforests and jungles at Singleton Botanical Gardens in Singleton Park. Brynmill Park has a lake and is close to Singleton Park.

There are several museums in the city. Displays at the National Waterfront Museum focus on Wales' history of industry. Swansea Museum is the country's oldest museum. Some of the displays here focus on Swansea's history. The Swansea Museum is in charge of exhibits at other locations in Swansea. The boats from the museum's collection that are displayed in Swansea Harbor are a tugboat, a lightship and a cutter. The cutter was built in 1909. The Tramshed has a double-decker tram and a tram from 1804 on display.

One of the historic sites in Swansea is the house where poet Dylan Thomas was born in 1914. The house looks the way it did in 1914. The ruins of Swansea Castle are near the city centre of Swansea.

The Swansea Indoor Market is one of the largest indoor markets in the United Kingdom. Clothing, footwear, jewellery and leather goods are some of the items available here. Fresh meat, fish and produce can be purchased at the market.

The LC Swansea has a water park, a children's play area and a gym. The water park has a waterslide, a river and a wave pool. Young children can play in the interactive play area. Visitors can work out or take classes at the Peak Gym.
