Mauritius: A beach dwellers paradise

Mauritius: A beach dwellers paradise

The sultry island of Mauritius is filled with beautiful beaches along its coast and this in part makes it such an alluring choice for a romantic getaway, and the inclusion of a number of suave, stylish hotels make it perfect for a luxury Mauritius holiday.

Perhaps the most famous beach is Ile aux Cerfs, located on a small private island just off the coast of Mauritius. This is a picturesque location but also attracts many water sports enthusiast and locals. The beach is easily accessible by boat and many restaurants and cafes can be found in the nearby town. Close by hotels include the deluxe Anahita Resort

Another popular beach is the Belle Mare beach, close to the Waterpark Leisure Village and Beau Rivage Hotel on the east side of the island. The beach has been preserved and is mostly private due to the lack of developments making it perfect for peaceful days in the sunshine.

To the west you will find one of the longest beaches on the island, Flic en Flac Beach which stretches over 8km, past several exclusive hotels such as Sugar Beach Resort and the Maradiva Villas Resort and Spa. Both of these are recommended properties in Destinology's collection and have direct access to private beaches. The Maradiva Resort also overlooks Tamarin Bay.

Its no surprise that with this many superb and natural beaches that Mauritius is a beach-lovers favourite holiday destination and attracts honeymooners and families year after year.

I could write on and on about many more splendid beaches in Mauritius, however I'll mention a final few: The beach along the Trou aux Biches Hotel is a perfect delight for all holidaymakers. Hotel guests have priority on the beach but other visitors are also welcome. Enjoy snorkelling, diving and water-skiing on this busy, lively beach.

And finally, slightly further north than Trou aux Biches is the large Grand Baie. The beach and surrounding bay is bustling with boats, tourists and small shops and cafes but this does not deter you from the spectacular views of the calm, turquoise waters out into the Indian Ocean.
